This opening session focused on <strong>DDL: study and homework<\/strong>\u2014practical ways to use AI while keeping the thinking and learning in students\u2019 own hands.<\/p>\n<h2>What the first session covered<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Getting started:<\/strong> Set up network access, accounts and subscriptions, then explore when to think through a question in ChatGPT and when to hand a concrete task to Codex.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learning in class:<\/strong> Ask as soon as something becomes unclear, including by voice, and turn a useful explanation into a web page saved on your own computer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Working through homework:<\/strong> Take a lab from reading its brief to writing and running code and preparing the submission, with AI helping at each step.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Revising for exams:<\/strong> Use AI to quiz yourself, draft and count the words in a cheat sheet, then write the final sheet by hand.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Handling papers and academic tasks:<\/strong> Read papers, prepare lab reports and research notes, convert PDFs, merge files and make slides with one AI-assisted workflow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The central reminder was simple: review and correct the tool\u2019s mistakes, raise the standard of what you ask from it, and take responsibility for your own understanding.<\/p>\n<h2>From the classroom<\/h2><figure
